Sir Clive Woodward - A Winner In Many Ways

Sir Clive Woodward is not only one of the greatest sportsman England has ever seen but he is also a fantastic motivational speaker. His began his career as a rugby player for both the Harlequins and Leicester and was eventually selected to represent the country. He played for England on twenty one different matches against some of the best teams in the world.

Although his days as a player were outstanding it was when he turned his attention to coaching that he really shone. After picking up some new tactics and valuable experience in Australia he returned to England to both set up his own successful computer leasing company and begin his career as a coach. Woodward coached the London Irish, Bath and the England Under 21s team before being selected as the head coach for the England team in 1997.

It would be a combination of Woodward’s business acumen and his experience on the pitch that led him to revolutionise the way rugby was played forever. His tactics would eventually pay off resulting in the England team becoming the best in the world and winning the world cup in 2003 against a determined Australian side. This heroic victory would result in a knighthood the following year and cemented his legacy in the rugby world forever.

Woodward would then move on to the world of football, becoming Performance Director of Southampton F.C in 2005. His ability to perform in multiple sports led to his appointment to the position of director of elite performance for the 2012 Olympics. In this position he will no doubt help maximise Team GB’s gold medal wins.

Clive Woodward couldn’t have got to the place he is today without being able to motivate the people he is working with. This makes him a sensational corporate speaker and event host. His years at the top of the sporting world have given him some great anecdotes as well.
