Amy Dowden

Amy Dowden is a Welsh professional ballroom and Latin dancer, widely recognised for her performances on BBC One’s Strictly Come Dancing. Born in Caerphilly, Wales, Amy began dancing at the age of eight and joined Strictly in 2017, reaching the finals in 2019 alongside TV presenter Karim Zeroual. Beyond Strictly, she has appeared on shows like Dare To Dance, helping the public learn and enjoy dance routines.

Amy has also headlined her own touring show, Here Come The Girls with fellow professional dancers Dianne Buswell and Chloe Hewitt, and has been a key performer on the Strictly Come Dancing Live! tour since 2018.

In recent years, Amy has faced significant health challenges and documented her journey in Strictly Amy: Cancer and Me, a deeply personal BBC One documentary exploring her breast cancer diagnosis and treatment.

Through her openness and resilience, she has become a powerful advocate for raising awareness about cancer, supporting others facing similar challenges, and inspiring audiences with her determination and positive outlook. Amy continues to teach, perform, and share her story, showing how passion, perseverance, and courage can help overcome life’s toughest challenges.
