Ben Kay made his mark on the Rugby pitch, most notably as a key member of England’s 2003 World Cup winning squad, culminating in England beating Australia in the final. Nowadays he is one of the most assured and funny After-dinner speakers on the circuit - without even needing to try he certainly scores maximum points with his audiences.
Ben is one of the most decorated rugby players in the northern hemisphere, gaining two Caps for the British & Irish Lions and 62 England Caps. During his England career, he was also Chairman of the Team England Executive. Ben also played 288 times for England’s most successful club, Leicester Tigers, which saw him play in an incredible four European Cup finals, winning the tournament back to back in 2001 and 2002. Ben’s 11 year career at the club also saw him win six premiership titles and play in three other finals as a runner up. He decided to retire at the end of the 2009-2010 season after 11 wonderfully successful years with the Tigers.
After his retirement as a player, Ben became a commentator through ESPN’s Aviva Premiership coverage and subsequently also joined BT Sports as a rugby expert, drawing on his past club and World Cup-winning international playing experience. He is a highly respected voice of authority on the game, not only through his ESPN and BT Sports work, but also as the Daily Mail’s rugby analyst as well as regular contributions to RTÉ Television (Ireland), Al Jazeera, BBC Radio 5 Live and Talksport.
Ben is also a Director of an Award-winning advertising agency and regularly works with Blue Chip companies such as Adidas, RBS, Credit Suisse and Kier Group.
