Carol Smillie is a TV presenter, actress and former model, whose first major break into television was as the hostess on the ITV quiz show Wheel Of Fortune. She is also well known for presenting the highly popular BBC 1 DIY/home improvement show Changing Rooms.
With an engaging smile and a surname to match, Carol has charmed audiences in a career that has seen her rise to celebrity status, earning her invitations to Buckingham Palace and Downing Street, hosting the Duke of Edinburgh's 80th birthday celebrations at the Royal Albert Hall, receiving an Indie Award, as well as a National TV Award and a Bafta nomination. Along the way, she has been impersonated by Ronni Ancona and been the subject of the iconic celebrity show This Is Your Life!
In addition to the Wheel Of Fortune and Changing Rooms, other shows that Carol has presented include Dream Holiday Home, A Brush With Fame, The Travel Show, British Wedding Venues, The Peoples Court, Smillie's People, and her own quiz show Postcode Challenge.
Carol's TV guest credits are too numerous to list in their entirety, but include shows like Friday Night With Jonathon Ross, Have I Got News For You, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire and Strictly Come Dancing. She was also the face of The National Lottery for three years.
In addition, Carol has been the voice of radio shows like Scotland's Winter Wonderland and Vet School, and BBC Radio Scotland's comedy sketch show Ellis And Clarke.
Carol's book, Carol Smillie's Working Mum's Handbook, published in 2003, became a top seller, as did her a pre and post natal fitness DVD entitled, appropriately enough, Changing Shape. She also has her own column in Woman's Own.
Carol is involved with several charities, primarily focused on child welfare, such as The Prince & Princess Of Wales Hospice, for which she hosts A Little Less Strictly Come Dancing ball every year alongside Angus Purden.
