- French Rock Climber and Mountaineer
- Solo Climber without Safety Ropes
- Inspirational Motivational Speaker
Catherine Destivelle is widely recognised and admired as one of the world's most exciting and daring female mountaineers.
Catherine's accomplishments as a solo climber, tackling the most difficult and dangerous mountains without the use of safety ropes support or back-up, are legendary. She has succeeded in scaling some of the most difficult ascents, including those never before accomplished by a female climber. In the winter of 1992, she climbed the north face of the Eiger. In the same year Catherine scaled Latok, 7,200 metres high, in the Himalayas. In 1993 she climbed a new route on the south face of Annapurna, and in 1994 reached the summit of Xixapangma via the south face at 8,030 metres.
This extraordinarily brave young woman is also an inspiriting and fascinating Motivational Speaker. She often arrives for a presentation in full climbing gear, challenging and inspiring audiences to re-focus their goals to achieve success. Amongst the key themes that she addresses in her talks are using will-power and developing belief systems in order to succeed.
