Charlene White is a trailblazing British journalist, broadcaster and television presenter, recognised for her professionalism, insight, and commitment to representation in media. She is currently a co-host on ITV’s Loose Women and continues to be a prominent figure in news and current affairs broadcasting.
Charlene began her career as a writer for the New York Post, before moving into broadcast journalism with roles at BBC Radio 1, BBC News Channel, BBC Five Live and BBC Three. She made history as the first Black woman to present ITV News at Ten, establishing herself as a respected voice in British journalism.
Passionate about education and social impact, Charlene uses her platform to mentor aspiring journalists, educate young people about race and racism, and champion diversity and representation for women and minorities across the media industry.
She has produced and presented impactful documentaries exploring race, identity and social justice. In Empire’s Child, Charlene examines what it means to be Black and British, tracing her Jamaican ancestry and its connections to the British Empire. She also co-hosted Has George Floyd Changed Britain? alongside Sir Trevor McDonald, investigating the UK’s response to George Floyd’s death and its lasting impact on communities.
In addition to her journalism work, Charlene appeared on the twenty-second series of ITV’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here, further broadening her profile with mainstream audiences.
