Charlie McMurdie

Charlie McMurdie is a leading cybersecurity and cybercrime expert, former senior Scotland Yard officer and internationally recognised conference speaker. She spent her policing career at the forefront of the fight against hacking, online fraud and cyber-enabled crime.

As Head of the Police Central eCrime Unit and leader of the UK’s national cybercrime programmes, Charlie became one of the country’s most senior law enforcement figures focused on cybercrime and online threats. She played a key role in major international investigations and led the cybercrime and cyber-terrorism response for a range of high-profile operations, including the cybersecurity strategy for the 2012 Olympic Games. During this time, her programmes helped prevent more than £1.8 billion in potential harm.

Following her career in law enforcement, Charlie joined PwC as a senior cybercrime adviser, where she worked on global cybersecurity strategies and operational programmes. She also led the cybercrime response within Breach Aid, PwC’s multidisciplinary team supporting organisations through critical cyber incidents.

Today, Charlie is a sought-after authority on cybercrime, internet security and fraud, advising organisations across government and industry. Her experience at the intersection of policing, technology and business gives her a practical perspective on how organisations can prepare for an increasingly complex threat landscape.
