Claire McCollum

Claire McCollum is a presenter, host and moderator who has been a popular face on television in Northern Ireland for many years. She first broke into broadcasting as the Newsreader on Downtown Radio’s breakfast show in 1999. From there she quickly moved to UTV as a features reporter. Before long Claire became a firm fixture as a Sports presenter on the flagship news programme, UTV Live at Six. During that time she won the IPR Newcomer Award. Claire decided to expand her horizons, becoming a freelance broadcaster in 2009.

Claire has built up her portfolio with BBC Northern Ireland. She has become synonymous with many of Northern Ireland television’s highest profile events.  Known for co-hosting BBC Proms in the Park at Titanic Slipways and the Olympic Flame arriving at Belfast City Hall.  The Clipper Homecoming in Derry- Londonderry was another event Claire hosted.

Claire McCollum is part of the presenter team for BBC’s Songs of Praise.  On occasions she also works  on BBC’s Sunday Morning Live and The One Show.

Claire presented and reported on two series of the popular BBC NI consumer programme ‘In Your Corner’ and has covered many major sporting events including the North West 200, Commonwealth Games in Manchester, Northern Ireland Football’s World Cup qualifiers, Tennis Legends in Belfast and the Belfast International Horse Show. She was a regular presenter on Balmoral Agricultural Show and Children In Need programmes.  She also hosted the second glittering ‘Celebrity Strictly Come Dancing’ extravaganza for Children in Need.

Claire’s experience and talent as a live broadcaster have made her a popular choice as host for corporate events, awards ceremonies, Q&A sessions. She brings warmth to any event she’s involved in. Her versatility as a compere, has seen Claire host a wide variety of events. These include the annual Belfast Telegraph Sports Awards, Peace III Conferences, Local Council Employee Awards and the Northern Ireland Apprentice Awards.
