Dara Ó Briain is one of the UK’s most recognisable stand-up comedians and television presenters. He is best known for hosting BBC Two’s Mock the Week for 16 years, alongside fronting a wide range of popular programmes including Blockbusters, Robot Wars, Stargazing Live and Go 8 Bit. Most recently, Dara won Channel 4’s Taskmaster, achieving the highest points total in the show’s history.

Alongside his television career, Dara is a successful author of children’s non-fiction. His debut book, Beyond the Stars a humorous exploration of the solar system and galaxy, was nominated for the Blue Peter Book Award for Best Non-Fiction. This was followed by Secret Science, The Amazing World Beyond Your Eyes to critical acclaim and Is There Anybody Out There? in 2020.

Dara is also widely respected for his science broadcasting. In 2023 he presented a highly acclaimed documentary on The Moon, with further projects following in 2024 including a documentary on The Sun and a two-part special exploring the Mysteries of the Pyramids.

A hugely accomplished live performer, Dara completed a 27-month global tour of his stand-up show So, Where Were We? in 2024. The tour won the Chortle Award for Best Live Tour in 2023 and spanned 173 shows across five continents from Svalbard to Melbourne culminating at Boston’s legendary Wilbur Theatre. His last two tours have been broadcast as exclusive BBC stand-up specials, adding to five previous live specials.
