- Phoenix Nights Actor
- Popular Northern Comedian
- Stand-Up Comedy and Awards Host
Comedian and actor Dave Spikey is best known to TV audiences through his appearances on Phoenix Nights alongside fellow comedian Peter Kay. He is also a respected writer and film producer.
Dave spent his early career working as a biomedical scientist in Haematology at the Royal Bolton Hospital. He first met Peter Kay in 1996 and the duo subsequently co-wrote the hit shows That Peter Kay Thing and of course, Phoenix Nights. They went on to win numerous accolades for their collaborations, including a number of British Comedy Awards.
Dave also wrote and co-starred in ITV's comedy Dead Man Weeds (in which he co-starred with Johnny Vegas) as well as the BBC's Magnolia, and became a regular on the panel show 8 Out Of 10 Cats. In addition, in 2006 Dave was the host of a revived version of the darts-based quiz show Bullseye, which ran for two series on the Challenge channel.
Dave has mastered the art of making even the dreariest of subjects extremely funny, creating hilarious stories out of seemingly mundane events. This is a theme that he has used with great success as a stand up comedian, touring the country and making appearances at major venues. Several of his tour shows have been released on DVD, including Overnight Success Tour-Live, Living the Dream-Live and TheBest Medicine Tour-Live.
Dave's first book, He Took My Kidney, Then Broke My Heart, was published in 2009 by Michael O'Mara Books.
