Debra Stephenson

Debra Stephenson is a celebrated actress, impressionist and comedian, best known for her standout television roles in ITV’s Coronation Street and the hit drama ITV’s Bad Girls, as well as her acclaimed celebrity impressions on BBC One’s The Impressions Show with Culshaw and Stephenson.

Debra first discovered her talent for impressions at the age of six, performing spot-on impersonations of well-known figures including Margaret Thatcher, Kate Bush and Esther Rantzen. Her early performances won numerous local talent competitions and led to a teenage appearance on the classic ITV talent show Opportunity Knocks.

After deciding to pursue acting professionally, Debra trained at Manchester Metropolitan University, developing her craft as a dramatic performer before going on to secure a range of television roles. Early in her career she also co-presented the BBC One children’s programme The Friday Zone.

Debra’s television breakthrough came when she was cast as Diane Powell in the BBC One drama Playing the Field. However, it was her unforgettable performance as the manipulative and dangerous “Shell” Dockley in ITV’s Bad Girls that brought her widespread recognition. Her powerful portrayal earned her two nominations for Best Actress at the National Television Awards, as well as Most Popular Actress at the TV Quick Awards.

She later joined the cast of ITV’s Coronation Street as Frankie Baldwin, further cementing her reputation as one of British television’s most versatile performers.

Throughout her career, Debra has demonstrated her range across both drama and comedy, appearing in numerous popular series including BBC One’s Spooks, ITV’s Midsomer Murders, ITV’s Where the Heart Is and Catherine Cookson’s A Dinner of Herbs. Her other television credits include Waterloo Road, My Mad Fat Diary, Rocket Island, Young Hyacinth and Coastal Walks with My Dog.

Alongside her acting work, Debra is widely admired for her comedic impressions. She showcased her remarkable vocal and performance skills in BBC One’s The Impressions Show with Culshaw and Stephenson, where she performed memorable impressions of well-known personalities including Davina McCall, Anne Robinson and Cheryl Cole.
