  • Record Breaking Sailor who Circumnavigated the Globe ëthe wrong wayí
  • Keynote, Teamwork, Leadership and High Performance Speaker
  • Creating Gender Balanced Teams

Dee Caffari was the first woman to circumnavigate the world 'the wrong way', westward against the prevailing winds and currents, solo, non-stop. This extraordinary achievement was completed in 2006 after six months at sea, and it is a record that has been matched by only four men. But she didn't drop anchor after this achievement – in 2009, she completed the Vendée Globe race and set a new record to become the first woman to sail solo, non-stop, around the world in both directions! Dee's achievements have been recognised through many richly deserved accolades, including the prestigious Raymarine Yachtsman of the Year Award and by an MBE in 2007.

A former schoolteacher, Dee changed career to sail into the history books. Within five years, she had proven her skills as a skipper in a male-dominated profession. While leading a crew in the Global Challenge Yacht Race (2004-5), Dee decided to attempt one of the last great challenges in sailing, and so on 20 November 2005, she set off on her attempt to single-handedly circumnavigate the world against the prevailing winds and currents. She finished on 18 May 2006, after 178 days at sea!

One of Britain's most courageous pioneers, as a motivational speaker Dee imparts to audiences the lessons she has learnt during her voyages: a positive attitude to challenge, self-determined leadership, quick thinking and overcoming adverse environments are not optional extras when you are sailing alone and facing sleep-deprivation among icebergs and back-to-back tempestuous storms! These adventures are described in awe-inspiring detail in her 2007 autobiography Against the Flow (published by Adlard Coles Nautical).
