Edith Bowman

Edith Bowman is an award-winning broadcaster, podcast host and television presenter, widely respected across the film, music and media industries. With a broadcasting career spanning more than two decades, she has become one of the UK’s most recognisable voices in radio and a sought-after host for live events, festivals and awards ceremonies.

Edith is currently the host of BBC Radio 3’s flagship Saturday programme Sound of Cinema, where she explores the power of film music and speaks with leading composers and filmmakers. She also presents Cinematic Soundtracks daily on Radio 3 Unwind. A familiar voice across the BBC, Edith regularly appears on BBC Radio 2, often covering for Jo Whiley and presenting special programmes, including the station’s Scottish coverage of the C2C Festival. In 2025 she made her debut hosting Front Row Live on BBC Radio 4 at the BBC’s Contains Strong Language Festival in Bradford.

Throughout her career, Edith has presented shows across many of the UK’s biggest stations, including BBC Radio 1, Radio 2, Radio 3, Radio 4, 6 Music, 5 Live and Virgin Radio. Her engaging style and deep knowledge of music and film have made her a trusted voice across multiple platforms.

As a television presenter, Edith has hosted a wide range of programmes for broadcasters including the BBC, Channel 4, Sky Arts and MTV. In 2023 she co-presented Coast to Coast: Food Festival for BBC Two alongside Colin Murray and Sean Fletcher, celebrating British food, farming and countryside. She has also hosted coverage of major music festivals, presented Life Cinematic for BBC Four and fronted the 2021 BAFTA Film Awards for BBC One, as well as the BAFTA Scotland Awards and BBC Scotland’s Hogmanay celebrations.

Her podcast work also includes Friends Will Be Friends for BBC Radio 2 with her close friend and fellow broadcaster Cat Deeley, Netflix’s The Crown: The Official Podcast and the branded podcast series Play Next for BMW.

Alongside broadcasting, Edith is a highly experienced live event host. She regularly presents major awards and cultural events including the British Society of Cinematographers Awards, the Scottish Music Awards and the inaugural Ivors Academy Honours in 2025. Her knowledge of the creative industries and relaxed interview style make her a popular choice for festivals, premieres and corporate events.
