- Architect, Designer & Housing Campaigner
- Keynote, Environment & Housing & Design Speaker
George Clarke is an architect, designer, broadcaster, writer and campaigner. From the age of 12 all George wanted to be was an architect and always understood the power of architecture to genuinely transform the quality of people’s lives. Quality design and the drive to Net Zero Carbon is at the heart of all of his work. George is passionate about ecological housing, sustainable developments and creating spaces and places that promote health, wellbeing and happiness.
George is one of Britain’s most successful architectural TV presenters beginning his career at channel 5 before moving to Channel 4, where for the last 16 years he has been the face of some of the most successful ‘home’ shows on television. These include The Home Show, Restoration Man, Old House New Home and the globally successful ‘George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces’.
His campaigning programmes include The Empty Homes Scandal, which campaigned to bring empty homes back into use and The Great British Council House Scandal, which continues today for Britain to abolish the devastating ‘Right to Buy’ policy and replace all the social housing stock successive governments have sold off since the 1980’s
In 2017 George launched his own educational charity, MOBIE, which promotes home design, innovation and sustainability to young kids across Britain, in the hope of creating generational change in what he believes is currently a poor quality housing industry.
George is ambassador for the Princes’s Foundation, the homeless charity Shelter, he is a trustee of the Foundation of Light in Sunderland, he is patron of The Civic Trust Awards and the arts charity Artichoke
As well as qualifying as an architect from the University of Newcastle and University College London (The Bartlett School of Architecture) George is an honorary doctorate of Sunderland University, University of Northumbria, Teesside University, Leeds Beckett University and the University of Wolverhampton.
