Jim Rosenthal

Jim Rosenthal is a familiar face on British TV to millions of sports fans. In a long broadcasting career during which he has gained many awards, Jim has been a main anchor for numerous sports, including motor racing, boxing, football, athletics and rugby. He has covered eight FIFA World Cups, three Rugby World Cups, two Olympic Games and 150 Formula One races.

Jim began his career as a journalist on the Oxford Mail newspaper, before joining BBC Radio Birmingham and then moving to BBC Radio 2. He worked for the BBC Radio Sports Unit between 1976 and 1980, moving into television in 1980 when he joined ITV, where he became part of the team covering the FIFA World Cup.

The 1980s also saw Jim commentating on boxing matches for ITV, when commentator Reg Gutteridge was otherwise engaged or unable to travel. In the 1990s, he went on to present ITV's The Big Fight Live, which reached huge nationwide audiences for boxing contests involving the likes of Nigel Benn, Chris Eubank and Naseem Hamed.

In 2003, ITV Sport's coverage of the successful Rugby World Cup took Jim to Australia for the sensational final, winning him a BAFTA along the way. He has also been a key anchor for ITV Sports' coverage of football's World Cup and the Summer Olympics. In addition, for nine seasons he travelled the world fronting ITV's coverage of Formula One motor racing. He has also regularly hosted the UEFA Gala Dinner in Monaco, a football spectacular that is broadcast across the world.
