John Beresford is a former professional footballer and current pundit known for his career as a versatile and attacking full-back. He began his footballing journey with Manchester City and went on to play for Barnsley, Portsmouth, Southampton, and most notably, Newcastle United.

John is best remembered for his spell at Newcastle United, where his attacking play was crucial to the team's success, known as "The Entertainers." During this period, he formed a formidable partnership with fellow full-back Warren Barton.

John was an unused substitute for the England team in the World Cup qualifier against Turkey in 1993 and earned a couple of England B caps.

John's most memorable moment was missing a spot kick in the 1992 FA Cup Semi-Final penalty shootout against Liverpool while playing for Portsmouth.

In 2017, John was awarded an MBE for his educational work and support of the "Show Racism the Red Card" campaign.

John is now a familiar face on television, serving as a pundit for ITV Tyne Tees and ESPN. He is also a sought-after speaker on the after-dinner circuit, known for his natural humour and captivating stories from his playing days alongside legends like Alan Shearer, David Ginola, and Paul Gascoigne.
