John Lukic

  • Former Goalkeeper
  • Played for Leeds United and Arsenal
  • Excellent After Dinner Speaker

John Lukic was a highly accomplished goalkeeper, known for his longevity and success in top-flight football. His career spanned four decades, making him one of the few players in history to achieve this milestone.

John played for Leeds United and Arsenal, making nearly 600 league appearances across two spells with each club. He won the First Division title with Arsenal in 1989 and Leeds United in 1992, becoming the only post-war goalkeeper to win league championship medals with two different clubs. He was also part of Arsenal’s double-winning squad in the 1997–98 season, though he didn’t play enough matches to receive a medal.

His career was marked by consistency, reliability, and key contributions to his teams' successes. Lukic retired in 2001 at the age of 40, holding the record as Arsenal’s oldest Premier League player.

John is an experienced  after-dinner speaker with a dry sense of humour and enjoys sharing anecdotes from his playing days. His after-dinner speaking engagements often include light-hearted stories about his time at Leeds United and Arsenal, making his talks engaging and entertaining.
