Katie Prescott – Award-Winning Tech Journalist, AI Expert & Keynote Speaker

Named Tech Commentator of the Year at the 2024 UK Tech Awards, Katie Prescott is one of the UK’s most respected technology journalists and commentators. She is currently Technology Business Editor at The Times, where she writes for millions of readers across Times platforms, analysing how technology is reshaping business, the economy and everyday life with a particular focus on artificial intelligence and digital disruption.

A former Business Presenter on BBC Radio 4’s Today Programme and Business Correspondent for BBC News, Katie brings deep editorial authority and broadcast experience. She is a weekly columnist in The Times’ award-winning business section and regularly hosts major live events staged by The Times.

Alongside The Sunday Times West Coast Correspondent Danny Fortson, Katie co-hosts the hugely popular Times Tech Podcast. Each week, the podcast features in-depth interviews with founders, innovators and global tech leaders, charting the fast-moving AI revolution. Guests have included Satya Nadella (Microsoft) and Sam Altman (OpenAI).

Katie is a highly sought-after keynote speaker, conference moderator and event MC, regularly appearing at leading global events such as London Tech Week, The AI Summit and Retail Week. Her client list includes Dell, Accenture, Innovate Finance, The Investment Association, British Chambers of Commerce, Retail Week, The Airport Operators Association and the Institute of Chartered Accountants. She is particularly well-placed to chair and facilitate events covering AI, emerging technology, cyber security, digital transformation, finance, media and the future of work.

During her time at the BBC, Katie worked across all major news outlets as a trusted on-screen and on-air analyst, explaining the impact of COVID-19, the European debt crisis, and rapid technological change. Her reporting has taken her around the world, including assignments in China, the United States, Tanzania and Rwanda, and she has also worked from the BBC’s New York Bureau.

Katie is currently writing a book about late tech entrepreneur Mike Lynch and holds a degree in Modern Languages from the University of Oxford.
