Kevin McCloud

Kevin McCloud is a leading British television presenter, author and architectural expert, best known for hosting the internationally acclaimed Channel 4 series Grand Designs. With over 20 years on air, Grand Designs has become a global phenomenon, inspiring millions with its focus on innovative homebuilding and architectural excellence. The show’s success has expanded into Grand Designs Live exhibitions and a popular magazine, reaching a growing audience every year. 

Beyond Grand Designs, Kevin McCloud has fronted several other Channel 4 programmes including Man Made Home, Kevin’s Supersized Salvage, and Kevin McCloud’s Escape to the Wild. His four-hour documentary Grand Tour of Europe showcased his passion for design history, while his immersive experience in the slums of Mumbai for Channel 4’s India season highlighted his commitment to social and environmental issues.

Kevin has also presented six series of Grand Designs: House of the Year, exploring cutting-edge residential architecture across the UK and celebrating the prestigious RIBA House of the Year award. He regularly covers major architectural events such as the Stirling Prize and is a respected voice in sustainable design, ecological construction, and heritage preservation.

As the founder of HAB Housing, Kevin McCloud champions One Planet Living principles, creating eco-friendly homes and communities that reflect local context and promote wellbeing. His philosophy is rooted in the belief that great architecture should serve both its location and its inhabitants.

Kevin studied History of Art and Architecture at Cambridge and holds honorary fellowships with RIBA and the Society of Light and Lighting. He is also a fellow of WWF and a patron of several arts and civic organisations. In recognition of his contributions to architecture and broadcasting, he was awarded an MBE in 2014.
