Best known as the bassist in Spandau Ballet, as well as for playing Steve Owen in BBC1's Eastenders, Martin Kemp is a highly versatile entertainer whose career has spanned a wide range of genres. Along the way, he has won numerous awards, from Best Male Actor at the National TV Awards to Sexiest Male at the National Soap Awards!
Martin is the younger brother of Gary Kemp, who is also a member of Spandau Ballet and an actor.
Film roles include Simon McKnight in The Best Years, Victor Walker in The Rapture, Lord Arlingon Spencer in Back In Business, as well as the infamous Reggie Kray in The Krays - alongside brother Gary - to much critical acclaim. Kemp's first feature film as director, Stalker, was released in 2011.
In addition to Eastenders, Martin’s TV roles include Chris Cooper in Daddy's Girl, D.I. Jack Finn in a six-part one hour drama series for ITV entitled Serious And Organised, Joey Cutler in another six-part one hour ITV drama, George Joseph Smith in Brides In The Bath, Howard Walmsley in Can't Buy Me Love (a one off 90 minute ITV drama, which also starred Michelle Collins), and Dr Lawrence in Jack Falls. In early 2013, Martin and Gary presented a new television series, Gangs of Britain, looking at the nation's gangs.
Martin finished third in the summer series of Celebrity Big Brother 2012. He is a patron to the Encephalitis Society, as well as supporting several other major charities. He appeared on a celebrity special of Who Wants to Be A Millionaire in January 2008 with Gary, to raise awareness of and funds for the Encephalitis Society.
