Matt is a retired rugby union player, renowned for his role as a scrum-half. Born in Birkenhead, he played for Northampton Saints and London Wasps during his club career.
Matt earned 77 caps for England and was a key member of the team that won the 2003 Rugby World Cup.
Known for his quick thinking and agility, Matt was famous for his "sniping runs" and effective use of the "tap and go" penalties. He also toured with the British & Irish Lions three times, contributing significantly to their campaigns.
After retiring from professional rugby in 2006, Matt transitioned to a successful media career. He became a team captain on the BBC quiz show "A Question of Sport" and has appeared on various reality TV shows, including "Strictly Come Dancing"
Matt works as a commentator and presenter for BBC Radio 5 Live's rugby coverage and is an excellent speaker and awards host. He talks on Teamwork, Motivation & Leadership as well as being an entertaining after dinner speaker.
