Michael Maisey’s story is one of rebuilding, responsibility and demonstrating that meaningful change is possible even after extremely difficult beginnings.

Michael was incarcerated at Feltham Young Offenders Institution at just 16 following a turbulent youth, gang involvement and an armed robbery conviction. His early experiences placed him firmly within a cycle of offending and disadvantage but reaching a personal low point ultimately became the catalyst for a very different future.

Michael made a conscious decision to transform his life. He subsequently built a successful commercial business before turning his attention towards helping others facing some of the same challenges he had experienced.

He founded the Change Is Possible (CIP) Project, supporting people dealing with addiction, PTSD, mental-health challenges and the difficult process of rebuilding their lives following prison and other forms of adversity.

As a speaker, author and TEDx presenter, Michael brings a combination of lived experience, business knowledge and personal insight to conversations about people and performance. His approach is particularly relevant to organisations seeking to understand the relationship between emotional wellbeing, leadership and workplace culture.

Michael also explores themes around healthy masculinity and the expectations placed on men to suppress vulnerability and emotion. He encourages audiences to consider how empathy, openness and emotional intelligence can contribute to stronger individuals, healthier relationships and more effective teams.

His message is ultimately one of possibility. Michael’s own journey demonstrates that a person’s past does not necessarily determine their future and that transformation can become a powerful source of purpose when combined with responsibility and a commitment to helping others.
