- Unapologetically Posh Satirist Stand-Up Comedian & Presenter
- The Thick of It, Mock The Week and Rev
- Awards Host & After Dinner Speaker
Miles' onstage persona sets the manners of a well-heeled man about town against the angst-ridden tone of a young Victor Meldrew, bemoaning about the everyday frustrations of banks, computer support, politicians and married life. Acutely aware of his upper-crust "posh accent" (and the problems it creates), he views the world with distain but also with urbane detachment - cutting through with marvellous irony.
The former host of Radio 4 institution The News Quiz, Miles’ other broadcast credits include playing a hapless press officer in The Thick of It (with a fringe ‘to hide the lobotomy scar’ according to Malcolm Tucker). He also appeared in Sky’s hit comedy Spy, and the films The King of Soho, The Monuments Men, and Made in Dagenham. Radio 4 listeners also know him as Damien Trench in In And Out Of The Kitchen (a sit-com based around the life of a food writer), and It’s Not What You Know (a panel show where celebrities test their knowledge of the people that know them best). Miles has also written a book, Fibber in the Heat, about his escapades during an England cricket tour of India when he bluffed his way into the press corp.
On film, Miles memorably appeared as an undersecretary in Made in Dagenham, a 2010 movie about the Ford machinists' strikes of the 1960s, which led to the equal pay act. He previously had roles in the blockbuster film Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix, as well as Death Defying Acts (a film about Harry Houdini), Sherlock Holmes and Is Anybody There? He was also featured in the television films of She Stoops To Conquer and Irvine Welsh and Dean Kavanagh's Wedding Belles.
Miles has also written a book, Fibber in the Heat, about his escapades during an England cricket tour of India, when he bluffed his way into the press corp, posing as the cricket correspondent for BBC Scotland and the Western Mail!
