Ortis Deley

Ortis Deley is in his tenth year of hosting Channel 5’s very popular The Gadget Show. As well as appearing on our screens weekly on The Gadget Show, Ortis has co-hosted the sell-out live version of the show on numerous occasions at Birmingham’s NEC, performing to over 75,000 guests at the 5-day event.

Ortis has also been part of Channel 5’s Police Interceptors team, presenting specials both alone and alongside Rick Edwards. He also contributed to Ancient Top 10 for the History Channel, a programme which looked at the origins of technology.

Ortis has an energetic and likeable way which has kept him working as a television presenter for almost 30 years. Having started his career on Trouble TV as a main anchor Ortis then moved across to CBBC as the anchor on the very popular Short Change. Quite quickly becoming part of the CBBC family he went on to present Why 5, X-perimental, Making It, Xchange and Live & Kicking, all for CBBC.

The move away from children’s television was seamless for Ortis and began when he was asked to host a pilot for Tomorrow’s World on BBC One.

Ortis has appeared as a guest technology reporter on BBC One’s The One Show, BBC Breakfast News, Watchdog, The Saturday Show, The Alan Titchmarsh Show and Daybreak for ITV1; as well as a guest panelist on Never Mind the Buzzcocks for BBC 2 and Channel 5’s The Jeremy Vine Show.

Ortis’ love of science and technology began when he was a child who was very much into sci-fi and comic books. He is a self-confessed bonafide geek. Since the start of 2021, Ortis has been working closely with the Science Museum, to show that STEM is for everyone and to promote a healthy understanding around discrimination in tech. Most recently Ortis was honoured to be part of the judging panel for the 2021 Science Book Prize!

Ortis also has an honours degree in Pharmacy and is also a qualified personal trainer.

Acting is another skill of Ortis’ which is evident from his credits- he has acted in ITV’s series The Bill, Silent Witness and Doctors on BBC One, and several CBBC dramas. He had starred opposite Clive Owen & Jennifer Aniston in Derailed and Rafe Spall in cult flick Kidulthood.

As an accomplished corporate host, Ortis has worked with many brands and companies, including; Avast, Highways England, Optima, Tado, BT, Audi and GTR Network, to name a few.

Ortis has been a fan of everything whisky-related for a few years and has set up a group that collaborates with food/drinks events to bring a unique take on tasting experiences. Glassmates exists to educate people on what it is they are drinking and they give informative talks on whisky, rum, brandy cognac and cocktails.
