Professor Greg Whyte OBE is one of the UK’s leading experts in sport and exercise science, renowned for helping elite athletes, celebrities and business audiences achieve extraordinary results. A Professor at Liverpool John Moores University, Greg combines world-class academic expertise with real-life experience at the highest levels of sport and performance.

Widely recognised as the sports scientist behind some of the UK’s most ambitious charity endurance challenges, Greg is best known for coaching high-profile personalities for major Sport Relief and Comic Relief campaigns. 

Greg has supported Eddie Izzard through the incredible challenge of completing 43 marathons in 51 days, and prepared John Bishop and Davina McCall for their widely publicised charity endurance events. His ability to unlock human potential under extreme pressure has made him one of the world’s most respected performance and resilience specialists.

Before becoming a leading authority in applied sports science, Greg represented Great Britain in the demanding sport of Modern Pentathlon, competing at both the 1992 Summer Olympics and the 1996 Summer Olympics, as well as ten World Championships. Following his elite sporting career, he dedicated his work to understanding the science behind high performance, specialising in biomechanics, physiology, performance psychology and training design.

Greg has held several influential leadership roles within elite sport, including Director of Science and Research at the English Institute of Sport. He has worked extensively with Team GB and Team England, served on the British Olympic Association Performance Management Group, and contributed to the Commonwealth Games Advisory Panel. His expertise has also been sought by leading Formula One teams, including Benetton Formula and Renault F1 Team, alongside top Premiership football clubs.

Alongside his consultancy and speaking work, Greg has appeared as the resident sports science expert on ITV’s 'Eternal Glory' and is the author of Achieve the Impossible. He continues to live his performance philosophy through regular participation in endurance races, marathons and extreme sporting events.
