Richard Ayoade

Richard is best known for his role in the Channel 4 sitcom The IT Crowd, for which he won a BAFTA for Best Male Comedy Performance, and for his role in Garth Marenghi’s Darkplace.

He has directed two feature films – Submarine (2010) and The Double (2013) – as well as various music videos for bands.

Richard has also starred in comedy hits such as The Mighty Boosh, Nathan Barley and Noel Fielding’s Luxury Comedy. He often appears on comedy panel shows and was team captain on Was It Something I Said?.

He took over from Stephen Fry as Channel 4’s Gadget Man, and then as Travel Man, which saw Richard apply his slightly awkward, cynical take to technology and holidaying. He also fronts the revived Crystal Maze, acting as the deadpan guide to celebrities and the public as they tackle the tasks and trials of the innovative game show.

His has written two books Ayoade on Ayoade (2014) and The Grip of Film (2017).
