Russell Howard is one of the UK's most successful younger breed of comedians. He attracts huge audiences for his stand up tours; his sell-out arena tour Right Here, Right Now played to more than 300,000 fans, including three sell-out dates at the 15,000-seater O2 Arena. He is equally popular on television: Russell Howard’s Good News, which he writes and stars in, became BBC3's highest rated show - with audiences ratings in excess of 5 million a week - moving up to BBC2 as a result. The show is currently in its 10th series.
Russell rose to fame after being selected from the 2005 Edinburgh Festival Fringe to record a 15-minute spot for Paramount Comedy's Edinburgh and Beyond TV show. In 2006, he won "Best Compère" at the Chortle Awards and was also nominated for an if.comedy award for his 2006 Edinburgh Festival Fringe show.
Russell has released three best-selling DVDs of his live stand-up shows: Russell Howard Live (2008), Russell Howard Live: Dingledodies (2009) and Right Here, Right Now (2011). He has sold over 600,000 DVDs and each of his stand-up titles has reached the top five in the DVD comedy chart.
TV panel shows he has appeared on include Mock the Week, 8 Out of 10 Cats, Would I Lie To You? and Never Mind the Buzzcocks. Russell has also established an international TV presence. Following a sell-out solo run at Montreal's Just For Laughs Festival in 2011, he was booked to perform stand-up on US TV's The Conan O’Brien Show (TBS Channel). He followed that up with an appearance at the Sydney Opera House’s International Comedy Gala, alongside John Cleese, as well as performing his own sell-out solo show across Australia. Since April 2015, Russell has presented Russell Howard's Stand Up Central on the US Channel Comedy Central.
