Sarah Armstrong-Smith

Sarah Armstrong-Smith is a leading cybersecurity, resilience and crisis management expert who brings extensive experience from some of the world’s most influential financial and technology organisations. She has held senior security positions at Microsoft and the London Stock Exchange Group, advising businesses on how to prepare for, respond to and recover from increasingly complex threats.

Sarah served as EMEA Chief Security Advisor at Microsoft, where she played a key role in the company’s digital transformation and cloud adoption strategies. She previously led Resilience and Crisis Management at the London Stock Exchange Group, giving her a deep understanding of how organisations can maintain continuity and make critical decisions when faced with disruption.

She subsequently joined Performanta, an international cybersecurity and data risk specialist, as Chief Strategy Officer, further expanding her work across cyber risk, organisational resilience and security strategy.

Sarah is also an accomplished author. In Effective Crisis Management, she draws on real-world incidents to examine how organisations can prepare for unexpected events and respond effectively when crises occur. Her second book, Understand the Cyber Attacker Mindset, explores the psychology and behaviour behind cybercrime, using case studies and profiles of major attacker groups to demonstrate how human vulnerabilities can be exploited alongside technological ones.

As a speaker, Sarah connects cybersecurity with the wider business and human issues surrounding digital threats. She explores how organisations can strengthen resilience, manage risk and understand human behaviour, while considering the wider social and economic consequences of cyberattacks.
