Sir Mo Farah is one of the most celebrated athletes in British sporting history. A multiple Olympic, World and European Champion, Sir Mo is widely recognised for his extraordinary achievements in long-distance running, inspirational life story and powerful motivational speaking appearances.

Best known for completing the historic “double-double” winning Olympic gold medals in both the 5,000m and 10,000m at the 2012 London Olympics and again at the 2016 Rio Olympics, Sir Mo has secured his place among the greatest distance runners of all time. Across his remarkable career, he has amassed 10 global championship titles, broken numerous British and European records, and set the world best for the One Hour Run.

Born in Somaliland and arriving in London at the age of eight speaking very little English, Sir Mo’s journey to international sporting greatness is one of resilience, determination and perseverance. Growing up in West London, his athletic talent was first recognised by a PE teacher who encouraged him to pursue competitive running a decision that would ultimately transform his life.

Sir Mo’s breakthrough on the international stage came in 2006 when he won the European Cross Country Championships. He continued his rise in 2010 by claiming double gold in the 5,000m and 10,000m at the European Athletics Championships, before becoming the first British athlete to run the 5,000m in under 13 minutes.

In 2011, Sir Mo became Britain’s first ever 5,000m World Champion, paving the way for his unforgettable performances at the London 2012 Olympic Games. On the iconic “Super Saturday”, he captured the nation’s attention by winning Olympic gold in the 10,000m before completing the long-distance double with victory in the 5,000m.

He continued to dominate global athletics for years afterwards, defending his Olympic titles at Rio 2016 and cementing his legacy as one of the world’s greatest endurance athletes. In recognition of his services to athletics, he was knighted in the 2017 New Year Honours.

Following his success on the track, Sir Mo transitioned to marathon running, achieving a third-place finish and a British record at the 2018 London Marathon before winning the Chicago Marathon in a European record time of 2:05:11. He also claimed six consecutive victories at the Great North Run between 2014 and 2019.

Away from athletics, Sir Mo is a passionate philanthropist, serving as a Save the Children Ambassador and the first Global Goodwill Ambassador for the International Organization for Migration. In 2024, he became the National School Sport Champion for the Youth Sport Trust, launching “Mo’s Mission” to inspire young people to stay physically active.

As a keynote speaker, Sir Mo Farah shares inspiring insights on high performance, mental resilience, overcoming adversity, leadership, motivation, diversity and achieving success at the highest level. His story resonates with corporate audiences, leadership teams, schools and organisations worldwide, making him one of the most sought-after sporting speakers on the global speaker circuit.
