Sir Trevor McDonald OBE is one of the most well-respected TV presenters on British television, arguably most well-known for his long tenure as the host of ITV’s flagship news and current affairs broadcasts, which included almost ten years anchoring the News at Ten and Tonight with Trevor McDonald. Known for his sensitive and insightful reporting achievements as one of the first and most successful black radio and television presenters in the country has inspired countless others whilst his accessible yet in depth style have informed and educated audiences for several generations.
As well as working as a current affairs broadcaster Trevor McDonald has also acted as a talk show host and entertainment TV presenter, hosting his own series Trevor McDonald Meets….
Born in Trinidad, Trevor has always been keen to keep in touch with his roots, presenting The Secret Caribbean with Trevor McDonald for ITV in 2009. Since then, he’s hosted five other documentary series for the corporation, including a 2013 visit to meet Death Row inmates and a 2015 investigation into the Mafia.
Sir Trevor was awarded an OBE in 1992, with a knighthood for services to journalism following in 1999, he was also awarded a BAFTA Fellowship in 2011. Still active in TV despite his retirement, he also writes poetry and is a keen cricket fan.
