Su is regarded as a national treasure, with a career spanning over 50 years in British entertainment. Best known for her iconic role as Peggy Ollerenshaw in the beloved sitcom Hi-de-Hi!, she became a household name and later starred in You Rang, M’Lord? and Oh, Doctor Beeching!. Her extensive stage career includes over 35 plays and musicals and 40 pantomimes, showcasing her remarkable versatility. Recently, she was appointed President of The British Music Hall Society, succeeding the late Paul O’Grady.

This September, Su embarks on a nationwide tour, Still Fully Charged, celebrating five decades in the business. From her apprenticeship at the Arts Theatre in Nottingham to her unforgettable Opportunity Knocks appearance in 1974—where she lost to a singing Jack Russell—her journey has been filled with standout performances. She thrived in musical theatre, starring in The Desert Song, Rose-Marie, and Godspell, appearing with Jack Wild in Big Sin City, and touring with Grease alongside Tracey Ullman. In the West End, she captivated audiences as Sally in Me and My Girl and took on leading roles in Babes in Arms and Sweet Charity.

Her television career flourished with Hi-de-Hi!, and her bold comedic presence extended to You Rang, M’Lord? and Oh, Doctor Beeching!. She even enjoyed chart success, reaching No. 2 on the UK Singles Chart with “Starting Together”. Su’s instantly recognisable voice brought life to beloved animated characters such as Penny Crayon and Noisy from Little Robots. Beyond acting, she presented Songs of Praise, became a regular on Just a Minute, and appeared in hit reality shows like Strictly Come Dancing, Celebrity MasterChef, and Pilgrimage: The Road Through Portugal.

Su remains a beloved figure in British entertainment, effortlessly engaging audiences across stage, screen, and radio. Whether starring in theatre productions or presenting on television, her enduring charm and talent continue to captivate fans nationwide.
