  • First British astronaut to visit the International Space Station (ISS)

At just 13 years old, Tim’s dream of becoming a pilot took flight when he controlled an aircraft for the first time. By 18, he had achieved numerous solo sorties and earned a prestigious spot in the British Army Air Corps.

From Military Service to Aviation Excellence
Tim began his career as an army officer in Northern Ireland, obtaining his Army Flying Wings in 1994. He excelled as a combat search and rescue instructor, undertaking peace-enforcement and humanitarian missions after the Bosnian War. Later, he contributed to training the UK’s first Apache helicopter crews. With over 2,000 flight hours, Tim was promoted to Major and became a test pilot. His expertise saw him deployed to Afghanistan, supporting Special Forces operations.

Becoming an ESA Astronaut.
In 2009,Tim joined the European Space Agency (ESA) as an astronaut. After rigorous training, he was assigned to a mission on the International Space Station (ISS) in 2013. Following extensive preparation in Russia to master the Soyuz spacecraft, Tim launched into space on 15 December 2015.

Highlights of the Principia Mission
During his Principia mission, Tim conducted over 250 scientific experiments, repaired the ISS power supply during a spacewalk, and drove a rover on a simulated Mars terrain. He also supported spacecraft docking operations and engaged with millions of students across Europe through educational outreach programs. His New Year message, broadcast by the BBC in 2016, inspired many. That April, Tim ran the London Marathon from the ISS treadmill, becoming the first person to complete a marathon in space.

Memorable Conversations and Unique Experiences
One unforgettable moment was Tim’s hour-long video call with Professor Stephen Hawking. From quantum physics to humanity’s future, their conversation spanned deep topics, all while admiring Earth’s beauty from orbit.

Inspiring Through Stories and Leadership
Drawing from his career as a test pilot and astronaut, Tim shares compelling lessons on leadership, risk management, teamwork, and motivation. His fascinating space stories, stunning Earth imagery, and passion for science, innovation, and exploration captivate audiences around the world.
